FAQS

How long do these tours last?

Our Harlem tour takes nearly three hours to complete, while our Brooklyn tour lasts six hours.

Where and when do they begin?

The Harlem tour starts at 11:00 AM in a Upper Manhattan location easily reachable by the A and 1 subways. We begin our Brooklyn tour at an easy-to-reach subway station in Brooklyn served by seven different subway lines.

Are these tours strenuous?

Not particularly. In fact, we’ve had folks in wheelchairs do the Harlem tour with us. We walk at a fairly relaxed pace. What's more, there are readily available comfort stops along each route – plus congenial places for food and drink at the points where we finish.

Are these good general interest New York tours?

We think they are, because our huge metropolis is really just a collection of diverse and distinctive neighborhoods. In getting a close-up look at one or more of them, our guests gain insights into how New York really works on a day-to-day basis. Newcomers also find them a excellent way to orient themselves. Another bonus: they’re not stuck on a tour bus seat for hours on end.

Do these tours have anything to offer to New York residents?

Definitely!

What about private and custom tours?

Any of the outings offered by SwingStreets can be booked on a custom basis with starting times most convenient to those requesting them. We’re happy to host large groups, too. We’re also pleased to alter our itineraries to highlight areas of particular interest. Schools, clubs and travel agents often take advantage of the tour services we offer. If you’d like to arrange such an outing, query us at info@SwingStreets.com.

Must tickets be purchased in advance?

Yes, because tours typically sell out ahead of time. To maximize your chances of getting the tour you want on the date you want, please book well in advance. The helpful people at Zerve accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Are tours conducted only in English?

Yes. But our guides speak slowly and clearly enough that even overseas visitors with limited English skills enjoy themselves immensely. Groups are also welcome to bring along interpreters.

May children come along on these tours?

Youngsters find much to enjoy along the way - and these neighborhood’s bustle and color tends to keep them interested. By the way, for kids under twelve, tickets aren’t required.

What about tours being cancelled due to bad weather?

Rain or snow, we go. In fact, only a total shutdown of the New York subway system would cause us to cancel. Come to the meeting point and your guide will be waiting.

Are gift certificates available?

Yes, query us.
